In a separate development, fellow 2. Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg has also parted ways with their manager, Markus Weinzierl. The former Schalke and FC Augsburg boss has been replaced by Dieter Hecking, who led Nürnberg to the Bundesliga title in 2017.

Hecking is a popular figure in Nürnberg, having spent four successful years at the club. He will be tasked with improving the team's league position and securing promotion to the Bundesliga.
